October 9th...

...is a mighty special day for most of us here. :)

As you all probably already know, it's
JOHN LENNON'S
71st birthday today!!!
Happy birthday, Johnny!

Yes, he seems excited too ;)
There are many things happening today.
1) It is also Sean Lennon's birthday!

Born on the 35th birthday of his father...what a nice present for John, hm?
2) Yoko will be in Reykjavik, Iceland to light the IMAGINE PEACE TOWER in memory of John. If you click on the link, you can even watch the relighting at a free live feed!

3) I have heard from various sources (*ahem* Twitter *ahem*) that Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell are getting married today!
On Johnny's birthday!
Now what do you think of that? I sort of have mixed emotions about this. First, I think that Paul chose this date to honor and commemorate his best friend and that itself is so sweet of him to do so. Second,
PAUL MCCARTNEY
IS GETTING MARRIED
TO ANOTHER GIRL
BESIDES ME.

FACT: Each of the Beatles have been married twice...until now, with Paul who is about to marry his third wife.

*******************

Overall, today is mostly a day of remembering John and all the amazing, life-changing things he has given us. Without him, the Beatles would never have been so, and I think that my life would be a complete ruin right now if it wasn't for him. He has taught me so much and I'm crying as I type this and I miss him, even if he died fifteen years before I was even born. I am so grateful for everything he has done for this world.
We love and miss you John :') So very much.
Say hi to George and Freddie for us :)

I will.

Paul McCartney and his fiance, Nancy Shevell, are getting married!

I am crying inside.
They didn't invite me.

Congratulations to the new couple!

Some sources say that they are getting married/got married today, September 18th, but others say that the date is not yet finalized. But one thing we know for sure is that they will/had wed at the same place where Paul and Linda married nearly 40 years ago at the Old Marylebone Town Hall...how sweet is that. :)

Their wedding won't be as extravagant as the one he had with Heather, but it will only be a small family affair.

Paul had suffered so much with his previous marriage that I truly hope that this will be a great one. Nancy is so nice and pretty and in the pictures of her and Paul, Paul's face just lights up at the sight of her.

I send my congratulations to Paul and Nancy, wherever you guys are!

A Day in the Beach

I am sitting on the shore, with my nose on a book, the sun shining its rays on my face. Laughter is ringing in my ears from the other beach goers and waves are kissing the coast. Suddenly, girls start to squeal everywhere. Boys stood up abruptly. I look up and see heads turning to someone, something, behind me. A small crowd of people and paparazzi began to form around this 'thing', but some men are pushing them away from 'it'. In the midst of them, I see a brown head. Then another. Then a third, a fourth, all bearing the same hairstyle. They are all wearing striped swimming suits. One of them is a bit shorter than the rest and is twiddling with a straw hat. Two of them are walking side by side, laughing at some humor known only to them. Another, a very skinny boy, quietly follows behind while smiling at everyone who meets his gaze.

I put my book down on the sand and release a sigh. The screams and shouts are breaking my concentration. Undoubtedly, they are The Beatles. I mean, come on. Who wouldn't know who they are? It's 1963, and they are a pretty big hit here in England already. Every one of the girls in my school go crazy over them. Everyone except me. I don't see what they seem to see in them. Okay, I do admit that they are a bit good looking. I have also heard a few of their songs down in The Cavern a few times. I go there for the jazz, but every now and then these four pop up instead. It's a waste of my time and money, really.

I continue to sit on my blanket on the beach for a few more hours, trying to comprehend what my book says while chaos goes on behind me. So many people! So much noise! I probably sunk in my book eventually because the next time I look up, the sky is beginning to turn into an indigo hue. The sun isn't in my face anymore but rather in my back. I suddenly hear the silence; no more annoying squeals and camera clicks. I slowly gather my things around me. As I reach for my book, a huge bird flies down and grabs it from my fingers.

The bird is flying away but is losing altitude every few moments. The book must be weighing it down; it's my most cherished book given to me by my grandmother, Little Women.

I jump to my feet and start to run towards it as fast as my nineteen-year old legs can carry me. I try to reach it, but my height is below the normal range. I'm not looking where I'm running but suddenly, the wind gets knocked from my chest, and my face says hello to the sand.

My eyes open and I see a pair of feet in front of me. I follow it up to the face of its owner. Legs. Very thin, almost malnourished-looking. A red stripe. A green one. Is it Christmas? I see my book in one of the hands. Calloused yet delicate hands. Seems like those hands are always busy working overtime. Small, built shoulders. A tiny smile. Deep, brown eyes. It is one of The Beatles.

"You alright?" this Beatle says to me in a thick accent. I can't quite remember who this one is; I think one of the girls in my school says it's "Paul" or "Ringo" or something...ew, who would name a son "Ringo"?

"Yes, thank you," I reply to him. He holds out a hand to help me up. I decline his offer and stand up myself. I snatch the book from his grasp, give him a little nod, and stomp over to where my belongings are.

I quickly gather them and am about to leave when a tap on my shoulder makes me turn around. Ugh, it's him again.

"You're welcome," he says in that tongue of his. He smiles to me again, this time bigger. My eyes set on his huge teeth. I turn around again to exit but he stops me again, saying, "That's one of me mum's favorites when she was growin' up." He points to my book. He smiles that teethy smile again.

"Oh...really?" I say back, my respect for him growing a little bit at the mention of my favorite book.

He doesn't say anything back this time. His smile minimizes to a small one, and his gaze lowers. We awkwardly stand there for a few moments. I start to leave again when he suddenly says, "My name's George. George Harrison. What's yours?"

I reply, "Patricia. But you can call me Pattie."

If you've made it this far, thanks so much for reading that :) I truly appreciate it. Please tell me what you think and if I should continue it or make one from George's point of view. Obviously, this isn't how Pattie and George met; I am just creating a fanfiction. Again, thanks for visiting my blog and reading my short story!

Wow.

All we hear is...

RADIO GAGA!!!

*clap* *clap*

I always love it when Queen plays Radio Gaga in their concerts. Thousands of hands clapping along to the chorus...don't you wish you were born back in the era of the greatest music ever made?

Think of growing up with Queen: when their first album was realeased in 1973, you were a young teenager, maybe 13 years old. Then you would have Queen through the 70s in your teens, then you're in your 20s. You start having a family and children. You make them listen to One Vision or Hammer to Fall and THEY become Queen fans. Then you go into your 30s and that is about 20 years of awesomeness given to you by Freddie, Brian, Roger, and Deaky.
Life just isn't fair, huh.
Here is their Live Aid performance of it; it is amazing.

Not just musicians...but inventors too??

The Beatles were so ahead of their time...

Ringo invented the Snuggie.

George was wearing TOMS before anyone else.

He was even rockin' the man jeggings. ;D

Did you know...4

Ringo Starr had only one drum solo in the whole Beatles catalogue.

And what do you know? It happens to be in the song The End.

I think that Ringo deserves more than he was accounted for. I gotta be honest here, Paul and John didn't really treat George and Ringo equally with the number of songs they can release in an album and what sort of stuff they can play in them. But without the Lennon/McCartney rivalry, we probably wouldn't have songs like In My Life or Blackbird.
But in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make :)
We love you Ritchie :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. MERCURY!!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE ONE,
THE ONLY,

FREDDIE MERCURY
!!!!!!!!!!

A.k.a. Farrokh Bulsara :)

For my friends in America, this special day is still tomorrow but for my other followers, that day is today!
September 5, 2011 marks the 65th birthday of the legendary man from the godly band, Queen. He has created so much memorable music and extravagant shows in his 45 year life. He sadly died so young but he and Queen will stay forever in our hearts.

Dear Freddie Mercury,
Sometimes I wonder if singing was invented for you.

We love and miss you Freddie :)

Living in the Material World: Sneak Peak

Here it is.

The sneak peak for the George Harrison documentary, Living in the Material World!
Coming VERY SOON this fall!!!

The trailer sent shivers down me spine...it almost made me tear up too :')
I cannot wait to see this; to be honest, I don't know a whole lot about this quiet Beatle of ours. This documentary will shed light to whom and what George Harrison really is...

Re: CONTEST: That's Elvis!

Remember this picture?

Well, here I am, proud to announce that
won the contest!!!!!
*applause*

This "Elvis Presley" in the picture is not Elvis Presley. It is actually Brian May, the guitarist of Queen! Thirza pointed out clues in her comments...

The nose...

His lips...

Sorry if the pictures aren't very good comparisons.
But it is Brian May! :D

One more big congratulations to Thirza for figuring out our mystery man.

As the prize, check out her blog!

It's heaven for Queen fans.

If you have a Facebook, you can follow her blog updates there too!

Make sure you visit her blog!
Thanks to everyone who participated!

YOU SAY IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY! WELL HAPPY 60TH BIRTHDAY TO YOU, MR. JOHN DEACON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can totally tell that I am very excited about his birthday. :D

A very merry day of birth goes to
JOHN DEACON!
The bassist of the band Queen, the cutest, the shyest of them all, but he is so full of amazing talent! Those bass riffs you hear in Another One Bites the Dust or The Invisible Man are just pure epicness.

(I wish they would pop out of my closet like that...)

For his birthday, I'm having a little celebration here in my house. At the moment, I'm eating one of his favorite foods - cheese on toast!

Click here if you want some yourself!

There it is everyone, except I don't have the cup of tea that Deaky always has in his hands. (My family aren't really tea drinkers.) Instead, I'm having milk in my Beatles LOVE mug.

After I post this, I'm going to treat myself with some Rock Montreal in honor of Queen. And also to watch some Deaky dance moves. xD

Again, a big happy birthday to John Deacon!!! We miss and love you!

CONTEST: That's Elvis!

Nope, it's not.

My friend Nina from YouTube sent me this picture and told me that this is NOT the real Elvis Presley.
It ain't some look-a-like either.
If you are the first to guess correctly who this "Elvis" is, I will put you in a later post announcing the winner! If you are the winner and have a blog, etc., I will tell people about that too!
Good luck to you all! xD

Hint: He always has something special with him.

Did you know...2

The syllable "na" is repeated 198 times within the eighteen complete refrains of The Beatles' classic Hey Jude.

Here. Go ahead and count em :)

Gosh...aren't Paul's sexy eyes so...sexy???

WE WILL ROCK YOU

YES!!!!
I finally watched a FULL QUEEN CONCERT YAYAY!!!

Well, not in real life sadly :( Just on YouTube...where is that darn time machine when we need it?!
Here it is: Queen - Rock Montreal 1981
I think this is during the time when Freddie's voice is unbeatable and absolutely perfect. Like his mustache :{D
Prepare to amazed.

John: "Watch this." Paul: "Oh yeah?!"

In the album Rubber Soul, John creates one of his best songs in his lifetime, "In My Life". It's a sweet song tribute to his loved ones, both "dead" and "living".

In my opinion, it's one of the greates songs of ALL TIME.
Rolling Stone magazine apparently agrees with me. This song is ranked 23rd in "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time".
John is a beast!! :D
BUT...
Paul isn't going down without a fight.
In the next album, Revolver, Paul writes "Here, There and Everywhere". It almost has the same concept, it being a romantic love song and everything.

When I first saw this 'connection', I thought that Paul wrote this because he wanted to defeat (or at least be even with) John in the love song-writing category. xD Well, you know Paul...always has to be the best at everything... :)

So what do you think is the REAL reason Paul wrote "Here, There and Everywhere"? xD

Did you know...

...that George Harrison played 26 different instruments?

Mhm...he's that awesome

He played:

Guitar
Or should I say guitarS.

Sitar

Four-string guitar

Bass guitar

Arp bass
(a synthesizer)

Violin

Tamboura

Dobro

Swarmandal

Tabla

Organ
(not the ones inside your body...)

Piano
(NOTE: There were no cats involved in the making of the Beatles albums.
Not even on Good Morning Good Morning.)

Moog synthesizer
(Can be heard in Oh! Darling, Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Here Comes the Sun, and other songs in the Abbey Road album)

Harmonica

Autoharp

Glockenspiel

Vibraphone

Xylophone

Claves
(You hit them together to make a clicky sound)

African drum

Conga drums

Tympani
(Also known as kettledrums)

Ukulele

Mandolin

Marimba

Jal-Tarang
That shows how talented George Harrison is!
Let's give him a hand, everybody.
